The relatively new way to stow bags in airline overhead bins

RichC
Finding enough overhead bin space for carry-on luggage is a problem for a lot of travelers who dislike checking bags, waiting at the carousel … or even worse, dealing with lost luggage. More and more airlines have or are updating their overhead bins to accommodate more carry-on luggage, but travelers have been slow to catch on to putting their bags on their sides rather than flat – often because the bag don’t look as if they will fit.

It is Autumn 2022

It is Autumn 2022
It’s the first day of fall today, September 22, 2022. The weather has turned cooler and the air just a bit crisper in the mornings here in Cincinnati … not that that is always the case. Do you know what ‘equinox’ means? The word means ‘equal night’. But daytime and night are not actually equal because, although the center of the sun sets 12 hours after it rises, the day begins when the upper edge of the sun reaches the horizon.

One of the projects this winter is to hopefully make a cornhole set-up. Perhaps it will make for a good gift, or maybe just a yard game for the house. I have put this off way too long!

Federal Highway Act of 1956

RichC
It has been 66 years since President Eisenhower signed the act that created the Interstate Highway System into law on June 29th, 1956.1 An amazing political ($$$) and engineering feat. Eisenhower and the House Democrats agreed to finance the system through the Highway Trust Fund, which itself would be funded by a gasolinetax. In June 1956, Eisenhower signed the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 into law. Under the act, the federal government would pay for 90 percent of the cost of construction of Interstate Highways.

Gas Prices 1998

Gas Prices 1998
Gas prices were between $2 and $3/gal not that long ago, but are now (June 2022) are pushing the $5/gal at the pump in most of the U.S. and much higher on the west coast … and of course in high tax states. Diesel used to farm, ship, deliver and work in America is at least a buck more (thumbnail photo from 1998). It would (WILL) be nice when the current “War on Fossil Fuel” is over and at least the U.

Armadillo By Morning

Armadillo By Morning
A Questionable joke with thumbnail photo Saw this neighbor to neighbor practical joke from Texas last week with a plastic armadillo secretly placed under a grill to make the other guy jump out of his shoes. I couldn’t help but think of the George Strait song, Amarillo by Morning. Hm … Armadillo ≠ Amarillo … that’s probably not normal thinking?
